US-Iran Deal to Reopen Strait of Hormuz

  • US President Donald Trump said a deal with Iran would be signed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz to all shipping, following the US-Israel war with Iran.
  • The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most critical maritime chokepoints for global energy trade. Reports said the United Arab Emirates (UAE) agreed to unlock about $10 billion in funds for Iran, which the UAE officially denied.

Indian Seafarers Killed; US Warns India on Iranian Oil

  • Three Indian seafarers were killed in US strikes on commercial vessels off the Oman coast. India lodged a strong protest and summoned a US Embassy representative.
  • US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar that violations of the US blockade and "illicit transport of Iranian oil" would not be tolerated.
