The drug slowed disease progression and reduced protein leakage in urine by about 42%; it blocks inflammation and scarring inside the kidneys rather than targeting diabetes.

RIL's Strand gets patent for blood-based early cancer detection

Strand Life Sciences, a Bengaluru-based subsidiary of Reliance Industries, was granted an Indian patent for an integrated platform that enables early cancer detection from a blood test using cell-free DNA (cfDNA) analysis.

WhatsApp 'username' feature raises privacy debate

WhatsApp says its optional 'username' feature, announced on June 29, enhances privacy by preventing a user's phone number from being accessed; the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is apprehensive it could increase cybercrime.
The 2017 K.S. Puttaswamy judgment held that informational privacy is a facet of the fundamental right to privacy under Article 21.

The pact settles the cost-sharing dues through a one-time settlement; recently, Rajasthan and Haryana also signed the Yamuna Water Project agreement, and six States agreed on the Kishau Multipurpose Project to rejuvenate the Yamuna.

Modi begins three-nation tour in Indonesia, bats for two-state solution

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in Jakarta on the first leg of a three-nation tour, reiterated support for a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict, and held talks with President Prabowo Subianto.
The two sides signed 14 agreements, including ones enabling India to supply the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile and Astra Mk-1 air-to-air missiles to Indonesia; Indonesia conferred its highest civilian honour, the Bintang Adipurna, on Mr. Modi.
Mr. Modi also announced that IIM Bangalore will set up its first overseas campus at the Singhasari Special Economic Zone in Malang, Indonesia.

Modi to visit Australia as ties deepen

On his third visit to Australia this week, Prime Minister Modi will advance a partnership that now spans trade, defence, energy and education, going beyond the old three Cs of Commonwealth, Cricket and Curry.
Under the Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA), all Indian exports get duty-free access to Australia; the two aim to raise bilateral trade from $33 billion in 2025 towards $100 billion by 2030, and Australian uranium exports to India may be finalised soon.
