However, there is a need to take them to the next level of growth and transform them into micro-enterprises. The Government will therefore launch the Singappenngal Valimaippaduthum Thittam, under which an investment subsidy of Rs.5 lakh will be extended to every SHG enterprise that demonstrates sustainable entrepreneurial performance.
Alongside the new subsidy, a target of Rs.38,000 crore has been fixed in the Annual Credit Plan for disbursement of loans to SHGs this year. The existing system of sanctioning loans and subsidies to Self-Help Groups will be fully computerised, with an integrated co-audit feature ensuring seamless and timely transfer of funds to beneficiaries without delay.
