Relief Fund Allocation

Ministry of Home Affairs approved ₹944.80 crore for Tamil Nadu
Funds released from State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF)
Purpose: Relief for Cyclone Fengal affected populations

SDRF Framework

Primary disaster response fund for state governments
Used for responding to officially notified disasters
Central government contribution pattern:
General category states/UTs: 75%
Special category states/UTs: 90%

Special Category States

Includes:
Northeastern States
Sikkim
Uttarakhand
Himachal Pradesh
Jammu and Kashmir
Receive higher proportion of central assistance

Legal Framework

Based on Disaster Management Act, 2005 (Section 46)
NDRF supplements SDRF when:
Disaster is of severe nature
SDRF funds are insufficient
Additional support needed for effective response

சிறப்பு பிரிவு மாநிலங்கள்/யூனியன் பிரதேசங்கள்: 90%
