For most TNPSC Group 4 posts in 2026, the age limit is 18 to 30 for the general category, up to 32 for BC, BCM and MBC/DC, and up to 35 for SC, SC(A) and ST. If you are from a reserved category and studied more than the minimum, there is no upper age limit for most posts. Your age is counted on 1 July 2026. These numbers are from Notification No. 11/2026 (6 October 2026). They are 2 years lower than last time (Notification 07/2025: 32 / 34 / 37). So check again, even if you were eligible last year.

* No-limit rule: for the posts marked *, BC, BCM, MBC/DC, SC, SC(A) and ST candidates have no upper age limit if they studied more than the minimum for the post. For example, if the post needs SSLC and you have HSC or a degree. This rule is not for VAO or the two forest posts. Even with no limit, you must be below 60 on 1 July 2026 and when you join the job.

Persons with disability cannot apply for the two forest posts. For those posts, an ex-serviceman can apply if he is below 35 after taking away his years of service. The extra age for ex-servicemen is not given to anyone who already has a government job.
TNPSC checks your date of birth in your SSLC or HSC mark sheet from the Tamil Nadu board. If neither shows it, you can upload a Birth Certificate, Transfer Certificate or degree mark sheet. No other proof is accepted. Example: if you were born on 2 July 1996, you are 29 on 1 July 2026, so you can apply in the general category. If you were born on 1 July 1996, you have completed 30, so you cannot.

இரண்டு வனப் பதவிகளுக்கு மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகள் விண்ணப்பிக்க இயலாது; இப்பதவிகளுக்கு முன்னாள் இராணுவத்தினர், பணிக்காலத்தைக் கழித்தபின் 35 வயதுக்குள் இருந்தால் தகுதியுடையவர். ஏற்கனவே அரசுப் பணியில் சேர்ந்தவர்களுக்கு முன்னாள் இராணுவத்தினர் வயதுத் தளர்வு பொருந்தாது.
தமிழ்நாடு வாரியங்கள் வழங்கிய SSLC அல்லது HSC மதிப்பெண் சான்றிதழில் உள்ள பிறந்த தேதியே சரிபார்க்கப்படும். அவை இரண்டிலும் பிறந்த தேதி இல்லையென்றால் மட்டுமே பிறப்புச் சான்றிதழ், மாற்றுச் சான்றிதழ் அல்லது பட்டப்படிப்பு மதிப்பெண் சான்றிதழைப் பதிவேற்றலாம்; வேறு எந்த ஆவணமும் ஏற்கப்படாது. உதாரணம்: 2 ஜூலை 1996 அன்று பிறந்தவருக்கு 1 ஜூலை 2026 அன்று 29 வயது - பொதுப் பிரிவில் தகுதி உண்டு; 1 ஜூலை 1996 அன்று பிறந்தவர் 30 வயது நிறைவடைந்துவிட்டதால் தகுதி இல்லை.
