What is the best study material for TNPSC Group 2?
Start with the official sources: Tamil Nadu Samacheer Kalvi school books (6th to 12th) cover most of the General Studies units, and TNPSC's own syllabus PDF tells you exactly what to read in them. Add daily current affairs, previous year question papers for practice, and topic-wise revision notes like the free materials on this page.
Is the TNPSC Group 2 study material here really free?

Is Samacheer Kalvi enough for TNPSC Group 2?
Samacheer books are the base - TNPSC frames most General Studies questions from them. But they are not the whole exam: you also need current affairs (a fixed 15-20 questions worth), Aptitude practice, and for topics like committees or schemes, consolidated revision notes save weeks of collecting facts spread across many books.
How should I prepare for Group 2 Prelims on 1 November 2026?
Work backwards from the exam: finish one full syllabus pass first, then alternate revision days with test days. Solve the 2025 previous year paper early to learn the real standard, keep daily current affairs unbroken, and spend the final week only on revision notes and mock tests - nothing new.
Is the study material available in Tamil?
Yes - everything on this page is bilingual. The materials, the question paper and the current affairs all carry Tamil alongside English, and the official syllabus PDFs include the Tamil text.
What is the Group 2 exam pattern the material should cover?
The Prelims (syllabus code 495, shared by Group 2 and 2A) is a single objective paper: 100 General Studies questions at Degree standard plus Aptitude, in three hours, with no negative marking. Group 2 then has a descriptive Mains and interview; Group 2A has an objective Mains. The Prelims is on 1 November 2026.
