Syllabus: Prelims Unit VI - History, Culture, Heritage and Socio-Political Movements in Tamil Nadu

Key Details:

Approved by Tamil Nadu Cabinet on January 23, 2024
To be released by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin
First state-level policy for women in 23 years (since national policy in 2001)

Main Objectives:

Holistic development of women
Empowerment through education, economic independence, and power sharing
Ensure social justice and access to rightful entitlements
Enable women to lead harmonious lives with equitable opportunities
Implementation period: 10 years

Focus Areas:

Improvement of health and nutrition status for adolescent girls and women
Increase in workplace participation
Promotion of digital literacy to bridge the gender gap
Support for remunerative placements
Encouragement of women's participation in politics

Target Groups:

Women-headed households (single women, widows, deserted women)
Women from oppressed communities
Women in vulnerable occupations
Differently-abled women
Women in informal and formal sectors

Implementation and Monitoring:

State-level committee headed by Chief Secretary
District-level committees headed by Collectors
High-level women empowerment committee to meet every 6 months
District-level monitoring committee to meet every 2 months
Policy review after 5 years

Additional Initiatives:

Gender budgeting cells in all departments (in progress)
Existing schemes: Vidiyal Payanam, Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai, construction of working women's hostels

Policy Goals:

Raise women's status through awareness, education, employment, and capacity building
Enable access to health, education, and employment services
Create conditions to restructure gender norms and behavior
Implement zero tolerance against discrimination, abuse, and violence
Empower women to break gender stereotypes
Enable women to excel in every sector

முறைசாரா மற்றும் முறைசார் துறைகளில் உள்ள பெண்கள்

தலைமைச் செயலாளர் தலைமையிலான மாநில அளவிலான குழு
மாவட்ட ஆட்சியர்கள் தலைமையிலான மாவட்ட அளவிலான குழுக்கள்
6 மாதங்களுக்கு ஒருமுறை கூடும் உயர்மட்ட பெண்கள் அதிகாரமளிப்பு குழு
2 மாதங்களுக்கு ஒருமுறை கூடும் மாவட்ட அளவிலான கண்காணிப்புக் குழு
5 ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பிறகு கொள்கை மதிப்பாய்வு
