Hubble study finds Andromeda Galaxy's star formation has been slowing for 40 million years

  • A Hubble Space Telescope study, published in The Astrophysical Journal on July 27, mapped star formation across most of the Andromeda Galaxy over the last 500 million years, finding the star-formation rate has been steadily dropping, especially in the last 40 million years; Andromeda is 2 to 2.5 times wider than the Milky Way and the two galaxies have a chance of colliding within 10 billion years.

New Delhi tops world capitals for schools located near toxic industrial sites, report finds
