Date of photography: the photo must be taken on or after the date of the notification you are applying for, and that date is printed on it. For the Group 2 and 2A exam (Notification 07/2026) that means on or after 11 August 2026.
About the pixel size: the compressor first makes the exact 130 x 170 pixel photo and 230 x 75 pixel signature. A picture that small sometimes cannot reach the 20 KB (photo) or 10 KB (signature) minimum even at the highest quality. When that happens, it makes the same 3.5 x 4.5 cm (or 6 x 2 cm) size at the 200 DPI the notification specifies, and tells you. If your notification prints different pixels, choose "Exact pixels".

The rules are the same for Group 1, Group 2 and 2A, Group 4 (including VAO) and other TNPSC recruitments, because every application goes through One Time Registration - your OTR photo shows up with each application you make. The catch: each notification needs a photo taken on or after that notification's date, with the date printed on it. A photo from last year's application will not do for a new notification. The notification asks for Photograph.jpg between 20 KB and 50 KB at 200 DPI, 4.5 cm tall and 3.5 cm wide (170 x 130 pixels). The top 3.0 cm (115 pixels) is your face and the bottom 1.5 cm (55 pixels) carries your name and the date of photography.
Yes. The notification says the candidate must ensure their name and the date of photography are printed at the bottom of the photograph. This compressor adds them in a box exactly as the notification sample shows, for example "A. ANBUSELVAM" with the date "21.03.2020".
The usual reasons in the notification: a photo taken on a mobile phone, a selfie or a photocopy; a photo from a function or tourist place, or against plants or buildings; no name and date at the bottom; a photo taken before the notification date; or an unclear image, or one in the wrong dimensions, size or format.
The same rules apply, because every TNPSC application runs through One Time Registration. But each application needs a photo taken on or after that notification's date, with that date printed on it - so an old photo from an earlier exam may not be valid for a new one.
Draw a 6.0 cm x 2.0 cm box (230 x 75 pixels) on white paper, sign inside it with a blue or black ink pen, and crop the image to that box. Save it as Signature.jpg between 10 KB and 20 KB at 200 DPI. Our signature compressor does this for you.
